Professor Nineta Polemi is a Programme Manager and Policy Officer in DGCONNECT H1 Unit. She has obtained the Degree in Applied Mathematics from Portland State University (USA), Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (Coding Theory) from The City University of New York (Graduate Center). She held teaching positions in Queens College and Baruch College of The City University of New York and the State University of New York. She is an Associate Professor in the University of Piraeus (Dept. of Informatics) and Director of the UNIPI cybersecurity master's program and lab, teaching cryptography, cyber security, e-business & innovation. She has over one hundred publications in the above areas and has organised numerous security scientific international events. She has received many research grants from various organizations such as the Danish Research Foundation, MSI Army Research Office/Cornell University, IEEE, State University of New York (SUNY), and The Graduate School of City University of New York (CUNY). She has been project manager (PM) / technical manager (TM) in more than 30 security international and European R&D projects. She has acted as an expert and evaluator in the E.C. and the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). She participated in national, European and NATO cyber security exercises.
